Text: Matthew 16:13–17 Theme: Moving from perception to revelation through the Word and Spirit Inspired by: God Working with God by Warren Hunter

đŸ§±Â I. Introduction: The Problem of Limited Perception

Illustration: Hold up a glass and ask, “How much water is in here?”Now say, “Your answer depends on your perception. The water didn’t change—your view of it did.”

📘 Warren Hunter writes:

“Our perception can shrink God to an obscure idea that is smaller than the circumstances of our life
God can never be any bigger than our comprehension of Him.”

🧠 II. What Is Perception?

Perception is your inner lens—how you interpret reality based on experiences, beliefs, and emotions.Spiritually, it’s how you see God, yourself, and your situation.👉 If shaped by fear, perception limits God. If shaped by the Word and Spirit, it activates faith.

📖 III. Matthew 16:13–17 – Who Do You Say He Is?

Jesus first asked:

“Who do men say that I am?” — That’s public perception

Then He asked:

“But who do YOU say that I am?” — That’s personal revelation

Peter answered:

“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Jesus affirmed:

“Flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.”

✹ IV. What Does “Christ” Mean?

Christ = Greek Christos (ΧρÎčστός), meaning “Anointed One” or “Messiah”

To say Jesus is the Christ means:

  • He is the appointed Redeemer

  • The fulfillment of prophecy

  • The one anointed to save, reign, and restore

Peter’s revelation wasn’t logical—it was spiritual insight.

đŸŒŒÂ V. Old Testament Example – Numbers 13:33

“We were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”

Their self-perception distorted their God-concept, limiting faith and access.

But Joshua and Caleb saw through faith, not fear.

📈 Lesson: You can’t enter into promise with a grasshopper mindset.

đŸ”„Â VI. God Working with God – Word + Spirit

📘 Warren Hunter:

"The greatest manifestations of God happen when the Word and Spirit are working in agreement—when God is working with God."

🕌 At creation: Spirit hovered, Word spoke—life manifested

💡 When the Word and Spirit unite in you, transformation begins.

🛠 VII. Application – Shifting from Perception to Revelation

  1. Renew Your Mind – Romans 12:2

  2. Meditate on the Word – John 8:31–32

  3. Be Led by the Spirit – John 16:13

  4. Confess Revelation, Not Reputation – Matthew 16:16

🌟 VIII. Revelation Realized – Christ in You

📖 “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” — Colossians 1:27

Peter saw Christ before him.You now carry Christ within you.

This is not just a historical truth—it’s a spiritual reality.

You have moved from witnessing Christ externally to hosting Christ internally.

The same anointing that rested on Christ now resides in you. You are no longer living from the outside in, but from the inside out.

📘 Warren Hunter:

“God working with God” becomes a divine partnership:Christ (the Anointed Word) in you,The Holy Spirit (the Anointing Power) through you.

đŸ”č Supporting Scriptures:

🔑 Galatians 2:20 – "...Christ lives in me..." 🔑 Romans 8:10 – "...the Spirit is life because of righteousness." 🔑 John 14:23 – "...We will come and make Our home with him." 🔑 Ephesians 3:17–19 – "...that Christ may dwell in your hearts... filled with all the fullness of God." 🔑 1 John 4:4 – "...Greater is He who is in you..." 🔑 2 Corinthians 4:7 – "...treasure in earthen vessels..." 🔑 Philippians 1:6 – "...He who began a good work in you..."

🚡 Live from the inside out. Release the glory already within.

đŸ”č IX. Becoming Like God – Theosis

🧠 Theosis = becoming like God in character and glory, by grace—not in divine essence.

📖 2 Peter 1:4 – Partakers of the divine nature📖 Romans 8:29 – Conformed to the image of His Son📖 1 John 3:2 – We shall be like Him📖 John 17:22–23 – That they may be one as We are one

đŸ›‹ïžÂ You were not just saved from sin—you were called to reflect His nature.

đŸ’„Â X. Resurrection Power – Romans 8:11

📖 "...the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus... will also give life to your mortal bodies..."

The same power that raised Christ now quickens you.

🕊 XI. You Are God's Temple – 1 Corinthians 3:16

📖 "You are the temple of God, and the Spirit of God dwells in you."

You are God’s mobile sanctuary—His glory goes where you go.

🔄 XII. Oneness With Christ – John 14:20

📖 "I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you."

You live in union with Christ—this is not poetic; it is positional authority.

🛎 XIII. Prayer Declaration

“Lord, expand my vision of You.Tear down every false perception.Reveal Yourself through Your Spirit and Word.I declare You are the Christ, the Anointed One, the Son of the Living God.Christ is in me—the hope of glory, the power of resurrection, the dwelling place of the Spirit, and the nature of God being formed in me.I receive Your call to walk in truth, union, and divine likeness.”

🖊 XIV. Closing Challenge: Your Concept of God Determines Your Miracle

“Your concept of God determines your miracle.”

📱 How big do you believe God is?

  • Do you believe He is omnipotent?

  • Do you believe "in Him we live and move and have our being"? — Acts 17:28

  • Do you believe "out of your belly will flow rivers of living water"? — John 7:38

  • Do you believe "all things are possible to him who believes"? — Mark 9:23

🚹 For the magnificent nature of God to manifest in your life—you must believe it.

đŸ”č Let your God-concept be shaped by revelation, not limitation.
